The Mighty Micro
Focus on the big things and also enjoy the small. This quote works in life, in food, and most importantly when we talk about health. From a nutrition perspective, your body needs sufficient amounts of micro and macronutrients (the small things and the big things) to function at full capacity. But what are these and what is the perfect balance of these that your body needs?
Before we get into that, let’s understand what each one does.
The Macronutrients or ‘Macros’:
These are your large nutrients that equal the amount of energy you consume per day. The 3 main macronutrient groups include proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. Your body needs these in large amounts to function and sustain itself, on a daily basis. While proteins provide resources that help in the regeneration of your organ and muscle tissues, carbohydrates are the primary fuel source for your brain, red blood cells, and muscles. Now carbs get a bad name because of ‘simple’ carbs that are the root cause of depositing fat in your body. However, “complex” carbs, consumed in moderation actually help with better gut function and more.
Fat is another macronutrient that people shy away from eating. But again, like your simple carbs, saturated fats are the real demons. When eaten in the right form and quantity, fats are actually important and really good for you. They have anti-inflammatory effects and promote cellular health.
Moving on to the smaller (but ever-so-important) nutrient companions, The Micronutrients or ‘Micros’:
These are the essential vitamins and minerals that your body needs in smaller but regular quantities., Even though they are “micro” they are super important in the way they protect and function in your body. Vitamins are broadly categorized into ‘fat-soluble and ‘water soluble’ vitamins. Fat-soluble vitamins include vitamins like A, D, E, and K. They are all absorbed from the “fats” - this is why you need your fats.
Water-soluble vitamins include vitamin C, thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (B6), biotin (B7), folate (B9), and cobalamin (B12). These vitamins are not stored in the body unlike the fat-soluble ones and therefore our daily diets need to help meet the body’s requirements. These vitamins help your body utilize the macronutrients optimally and as vital as they are, most of our diets fall short of them. And here’s why (Click Here)
Minerals are elements found on our planet and in our foods that help your body function normally, including keeping bones, skin, and nails healthy, the heart pumping, and brain working properly. These include calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, copper, selenium etc.
Without these essential vitamins and minerals, your body will pretty much collapse or be met with the fury of chronic illnesses. So what do you do to avoid that fate? You eat the food that gives you all that your body needs. But is that enough? Before we answer that question, let’s see what we need to eat to get the macro and micronutrients.

We mentioned a while back that most of our diets fall short and do not give us everything that we need. Our modern-day lifestyles do not give us the time, energy, or motivation to whip up a balanced meal that will give you the right amounts of macro and micronutrients that your body needs. While our bodies do get their share of macros, we simply do not get our fair share of daily micronutrients. Without them, the macros are not as effective and hence we are not at our healthiest.
This is why supplementing has become ever so important. Think about it - supplements make up 60% of your doctor's prescription. It has therefore become essential to supplement with quality and well-researched products that give our body essential micronutrients in doses and quantities that can be absorbed optimally by our bodies. Our gummies were researched and created to help maintain, sustain and function the way your body was meant to. Although they cannot compete with a well-balanced diet, our Replenish gummies help your body seriously replenish all the micronutrients that it lacks.
